An orphan well located on the Matagorda Island Block 487 (MI-487) Platform in the
Gulf of Mexico is actively leaking produced water and condensate. The hydrocarbon mixture is spraying every 3-
5 minutes from a hole in the conductor casing and the affected area measures approximately 15 feet by 20 feet.
Requesting emergency funds to have a crew survey the platform, well site, and plug the leaking orphan well. The District office in Houston contacted three (3) vendors that could provide the
services and selected the vendor that could respond immediately and was the best value for the State of Texas.
