The Texas General Land Office (“GLO”) seeks a highly skilled contractor for coastal construction to restore an approximate 4-acre bird rookery island in east Galveston Bay northwest of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GIWW) near Gilchrist, TX (the “Project”).

The island restoration will be constructed by mechanically dredging adjacent bay bottom sediments from a designated adjacent borrow area/site access and flotation channel and then mechanically placing the sediments into the designated restoration area footprint to the specified lines and grades as shown on the Project Manual. The island fill will be graded to provide upland nesting habitat that transitions to a beach shoreline. For potential cost savings an alternate construction method, if selected: the island fill may be obtained from an approved offsite borrow source.
