MATAGORDA ISLAND UNIT OF ARANSAS NWR BERM REPAIRS, MATAGORDA ISLAND, TEXAS

The Coastal Bend Bays & Estuaries Program, Inc. (CBBEP) will receive sealed bids through their Engineer, HDR Engineering, Inc. (HDR) for MATAGORDA ISLAND UNIT OF ARANSAS NWR, BERM REPAIRS project until 2:00 p.m. on September 18, 2026 via the U.S. Postal Service or hand/express mail at the HDR office located at 555 N. Carancahua St., Suite 1600, Corpus Christi, Texas 78401. The bids will be publicly opened and read at the above-mentioned time and place. Bids should be addressed to the attention of Stephanie Rogers and should include the bid opening date/time (September 18, 2026, 2:00 p.m.), and the words, “Sealed Bid – Do Not Open” on the envelope.

The project consists of rebuilding berms that provide access to a marsh complex. Work includes restoration of two sections of breached berm, removal of damaged materials, installation of new 36-inch HDPE culverts and subsidiary materials, installation riprap shoreline protection, and access road improvements. Owner-furnished materials, including sand, graded riprap, and other miscellaneous construction materials are available on Matagorda Island and will be provided for use in the Work.

A non-mandatory pre-bid conference will be held virtually on August 27, 2026 at 10:00. Attendance is highly recommended.

CBBEP will host a site visit on August 28, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. starting at the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge headquarters (1 Wildlife Circle, Austwell, TX 77950). No additional or separate visitations will be conducted by CBBEP. Attendees shall register for the site visit in advance to ensure appropriate accommodations.

A printed copy of the bid package including plans, specifications, and contract documents may be obtained for a non-refundable $75.00 fee. Plans included in the bid package are half size (11” x 17”). Full size plans (22” x 34”) may be obtained for an additional $25.00 per set.
